Cats

I have three Ragdoll cats.  All my knitting is 5% cat hair, more or less. I’ve learned to live with it.

Dinky, born in 1999, is a Seal Lynx Point. As Senior Cat, he rules the roost and weighs in at about 15 pounds. He’s a big baby, and loves to lay in my arms like an infant and get his tummy rubbed.

Precious Kitty, born in 2004, is a Blue Bicolor. He is small for the breed due to some kidney problems, and weighs just over 10 pounds. He was affected by the disastrous pet food recall and suffered from ill health for several months but seems to now be on the mend although his coat has never returned to its former glory. I did receive full payment of my vet bills from the pet food company’s insurance carrier, plus a little extra thrown in for future blood tests. Not an adequate compensation for what my poor Precious has been through, but I have to give them props for acting in good faith. They never gave me any hassle about paying me at all once I’d submitted the claim forms.

Handsome Fella is a Flame (Red) Lynx Point who has yet to show his color. Born in 2006, he will be 2-3 years old before he turns the bright orange I expect him to be. He is the largest of the three cats at 18 pounds and we’re trying to limit his weight. He’s a growing boy, though, and forcing him to eat less is a real challenge.

Lovely babies! At our house the knitting is at least 50% white Amber-cat-fur (longhair), and the rest is an indeterminate mix of Toby (Australian shepherd-mix) and Maggie (grey shorthaired cat).
