About
Hello! My name is Roberta, and I just started knitting in December 2006. I crocheted as a girl (many years ago) and was pretty good at it. I made doilies then, as I was very keen on oldish things and had a pile of 1940′s-era crochet pattern books from my mother. The biggest thing I made out of crochet thread was a bedspread in a spiderweb motif. Then I stopped. For 35 years.
Fast forward to 2006. I’m a little bored and realize that I need a hobby, preferably one with a creative component to it. A friend dragged me to a knitting class to keep her company, and though she didn’t carry on with it, I became obsessed. My inner Knitterliness was set free, and here I am.
I proceeded to buy every book, read every website and in general bore my friends until I got good enough to actually make something. I haven’t slowed down since.
Other bits about me… As you can tell, I’m a Woman of A Certain Age (translate that into “liberated in the 1970′s”). I’m divorced with two grown sons. I keep three massively beautiful Ragdoll cats named Dinky, Precious Kitty and Handsome Fella. I ride a classic motorcyle. I drive a Toyota Prius. I live in a small town just outside a Very Big Town and I commute 50 miles each way to work. But enough about me! Let’s talk about knitting!
